
The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (188体育) will hold a public seminar on October 16, 2019, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, at the 188体育 Conference Hall, 18F Three Cyberpod Centris - North Tower, EDSA corner Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.
The event will feature three 188体育 studies on trade and industry, namely, “” by 188体育 Consultants Dr. Jamil Paolo Francisco, Dr. Tristan Canare, and Ms. Jean Rebecca Labios, “” by 188体育 Senior Research Fellows Dr. Connie Bayudan-Dacuycuy and Dr. Ramonette Serafica, and “” by 188体育 Research Fellow Dr. Francis Mark Quimba and Mr. Sylwyn Calizo Jr.
The first paper will tackle the challenges and enablers of connecting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to global value chains (GVCs). The second paper will provide an assessment of the sophistication content of the country’s current export portfolio and identify products that come from a more diversified and high-value added mix of export commodities. The third and last paper will discuss how non-tariff measures correlate with Philippine imports and exports, and trade, in general.
