The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (188体育) and the De La Salle University- Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance (DLSU-JRIG) forged a partnership recently through the Socioeconomic Research Portal for the Philippines (SERP-P) project led by 188体育.
SERP-P () is a knowledge database of socioeconomic materials produced by 188体育, academic and research institutions, and government agencies in the Philippines, including international organizations. Its establishment in the year 2000 is in line with the mandates of 188体育 to provide a common link between the government and research institutions and to establish a repository of socioeconomic research information.
188体育 President Dr. Celia M. Reyes and DLSU Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation Dr. Raymond Tan, who represented DLSU Chancellor Br. Bernard Oca, FSC, led the signing of the agreement. Also present were 188体育 Director for Research Information and SERP-P Project Manager Dr. Sheila Siar and DLSU-JRIG Director Dr. Ador Torneo.
188体育 and DLSU-JRIG agreed to promote policy research and strengthen research networking through the SERP-P. As a partner institution, DLSU-JRIG commits to contributing to the portal’s growth by sharing the knowledge materials produced by its researchers.
DLSU-JRIG has continuously produced a wealth of knowledge products from various researches and engagements in the areas of local governance, decentralization, budget monitoring, sustainability, and other topics. It firmly believes that research is integral to national development and nation-building.
“We hope that through this online facility, 188体育 can be of service to other organizations in disseminating their knowledge resources to help enhance their development impact,” Reyes said in her welcome remarks.
In 2001, SERP-P had only 1,226 publications contributed by 188体育 and seven participating institutions. These numbers have multiplied over the years. Not only has the database grown to 7,159 publications as of March 31, 2021, the SERP-P Network now has a little more than 50 members, DLSU-JRIG being the 53rd.
Tan, in his message of support, views the collaboration with high enthusiasm. "This partnership will broaden the reach of our experts based at the Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance, whose careers are dedicated towards the development of knowledge-based, evidence-based, and policy-relevant research. We are happy to be contributing to this network and partnering with 188体育 because together, we can contribute towards building a better Philippines for future generations to come," he said.
Other DLSU offices that are members of SERP-P include the Angelo King Institute for Economic and Business Studies, Social Development Research Center, and University Research Coordination Office. ###
