40 Things (You Just Might Not Know) About 188体育 (17/40): Catching Up with Asia's Tigers
In 1996, 188体育 released the two-volume publication, Catching Up with Asia's Tigers. This book assessed the industrial sector’s performance and provided recommendations on how the country could seize the many doors of opportunities available to push its industries to achieve world-class competitiveness and be at par with Asia’s tigers. It came at a most opportune time when the global community was faced with excellent opportunities for a freer world trade ushered by the creation of the World Trade Organization following the GATT-Uruguay Round Negotiations and of regional initiatives like the ASEAN Free Trade Area.
